Mumbai, December 27: Drone manufacturer Zuppa is planning to raise about USD10 million funds over the next few months to fuel its expansion plans. The company’s plans comes after the Union government recently came out with new regulations on the use of drones by private citizens by lifting a 2014 ban.

Zuppa, owned by Chennai-based Sree Sai Aerotech Innovations Pvt. Ltd. (SSAI), plans to use the funds to scale up its existing products that have been developed using its proprietary technology and penetrate existing markets.

The expansion plans include developing newer applications for its core drone technology and service the jump in demand for its AIS 140 compliant Vehicle Tracking and Telematics Systems (VTS), which are mandated by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MORTH) as well as among automobile OEMs.

Zuppa’s founder Sai Pattabiram said, “Our bankers have identified few VCs and strategic investors and we look at closing the funding round in the next two quarters and the company has already raised USD1 million from IndiaNivesh Special Situations and Growth Fund and MapMyIndia, a GPS navigation and tracking solution provider.”

Pattabiram said that the company is now ready to expand in its core drone manufacturing space after the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) came out with the new set of regulations which came into effect from first of this month. The regulation classifies remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) or drones as nano, micro, small, medium and large drones along with the do’s and dont’s of flying these drones.

He added that “Zuppa designs and manufactures its drones in India and also have a global patent for their drone technology. The company is a process of manufacturing an aeroplane-like drone (about one meter in length) that can be used to map larger areas in a shorter time and can be used in mapping and monitoring agricultural lands. Pattabiram said such drone can monitor 1000 acres of land in just one flight.”
The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had come out with a new set of regulations in August this year and the same has come into effect from December 1. The Company is actively engaging with Civil Aviation authorities being the only manufacturer of Drones in India to ensure successful implementation of the regulations and the future of the drone industry in India.

Curl Stahl Geis Secures Victory for Aviation Company Involved in Contractual Dispute

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, USA, December 27, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ — The San Antonio-based law firm of Curl Stahl Geis has secured a legal victory for its client Danbury Aerospace, Inc., which was embroiled in a contract dispute with a company that acquired its assets three years ago.

Specifically, the Texas state court judge in San Antonio ruled that defendant Continental Motors, Inc. (an Alabama-based company) must transfer all remaining funds held in escrow when it made the acquisition to Danbury Aerospace, return certain documents that it had relocated to Mobile, Alabama, and pay Danbury Aerospace’s attorney’s fees.
“This was a complete legal victory for our client,” said Paul Curl of Curl Stahl Geis.

Prior to 2015, when it was acquired by Continental Motors, Danbury Aerospace manufactured, sold, and repaired aircraft engine components through its subsidiaries, which were also plaintiffs in the case. Shortly after the acquisition, Continental Motors shuttered Danbury’s former operations.

Under the terms of the acquisition, the parties established an Indemnity Escrow Fund and an Accounts Receivable Escrow Fund. According to court documents, Continental Motors paid over $2 million of the purchase price into escrow to protect it from specially defined claims and losses that might occur after the closing of the transaction, with any remaining balance to be paid to Danbury Aerospace.

These events became relevant in 2017 when a related case between the two parties settled. As part of the settlement, Continental Motors and Danbury Aerospace agreed that portions of the escrow accounts would be liquidated with money going to each party. The remaining funds were to be dispersed to Danbury Aerospace and Continental Motors by agreement, but Continental Motors then refused to even discuss such an agreement, instead making claims against the escrow funds that Danbury Aerospace thought were unjustified. The court agreed with Danbury Aerospace and ruled that it was entitled to all of the remaining funds

Ty Stoller, the President of Danbury Aerospace, said he was gratified with the outcome of the case. “We were always confident in our position, and we are glad that the court properly enforced our agreement with Continental Motors,” said Stoller.

Dr. De Novi's interest in surgical robotics and computer-based surgery simulation began with exploration of cutting edge technologies for graphic and haptic rendering and developing studies in these domains.
