FAA Proposes $73,000 Fine Against Lifeflight Aviation Services for Alleged Drug and Alcohol Testing Violations

WASHINGTON — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a $73,000 civil penalty against Lifeflight Aviation Services, LLC of Bangor, Maine, for allegedly violating FAA drug and alcohol testing program regulations.
The FAA alleges Lifeflight, hired six pilots and two mechanics and failed to include them in its required random drug and alcohol testing pool. In addition, the FAA alleges one of the pilots was hired without a verified negative pre-employment drug test.
The FAA further alleges Lifeflight allowed the eight employees to perform safety-sensitive duties on various dates between August 2024 and May 2025.
